Primary Years Programme (PYP) of the IB

Student Competencies

At Greenville, the “Learning Experiences” of our Primary students create a stimulating and meaningful educational context.

Primary students become “agents” of their own learning and work collaboratively, which allows them to enhance their skills, knowledge, and attitudes.

By fostering self-discipline and reflection, they become protagonists of their own learning process and emotional growth.

At Greenville Primary, we ensure that our students feel confident, independent, and capable of analyzing and solving problems through a transdisciplinary and conceptual inquiry-based approach.

We offer a multilingual education: English as the language of instruction, Spanish as the mother tongue, and French as an acquired language, which fosters natural, analytical, and reflective oral and written communication among our Primary students.

Only at Greenville will you find areas of knowledge that promote in our students a global perspective, a love for the environment, and respect for multiculturalism through subjects such as Environment and Intercultural Studies.

Primary classrooms are equipped with electronic boards and educational platforms that allow for dynamic and interactive learning environments.

A PERFECT LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR YOUR CHILDREN

Lower Elementary

The Chess class is an iconic subject at Greenville because it increases IQ, exercises both brain hemispheres, and strengthens memory and problem-solving skills in our students.

The reading and writing process is consolidated through phonological awareness, perceptual-visual and auditory exercises, memory stimulation, muscle tone, laterality, and spatial awareness.

Upper Elementary

We promote collaborative work, problem-solving, and the creation of arguments and hypotheses through real-world scenarios.

Students take action and recognize themselves as agents of change in response to their inquiries.

Upon completing Elementary School, students achieve the cognitive maturity needed to collaboratively build their inquiries and share them with the educational community through the PYP Exhibition.

HOW DOES THE PYP BENEFIT GREENVILLE STUDENTS?

  • They are active, caring, and capable of participating in the world around them.

  • Confidence is built in their ability to succeed.

  • They demonstrate respect for themselves, for others, and for the environment.

  • They develop connections with transdisciplinary learning.

  • They adopt a lifelong learning attitude
