INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE PROGRAM
Greenville International School offers its students, as part of our multilingual and multicultural educational model, the opportunity to thrive in a space of high academic standards, providing constant individual guidance and support in all dimensions of their cognitive, emotional, and physical development. Our educational objectives are framed within the International Baccalaureate® (IB) continuum, preparing students for university life through a high-quality educational experience. The curriculum features comprehensive and balanced plans and programs, enabling students to develop an international mindset grounded in the holistic principle of education.
The IB educational program aims for students to acquire not only a strong understanding of specialized knowledge but also academic, personal, and social skills that help them identify their interests and talents, giving them the opportunity to excel in higher education. Greenville places special emphasis on ensuring that students are able to pursue their professional vocation while embodying the values and principles necessary for a fulfilling, productive, and meaningful life.
IB Learner Profile
The fundamental goal of the International Baccalaureate (IB) programs is to develop internationally minded individuals who, aware of what unites them as human beings and of the shared responsibility to care for the planet, contribute to creating a better and more peaceful world. As members of the IB learning community, we strive to be:
IB Diploma Programme
The IB Diploma Programme (DP) is designed for students aged 16 to 19 and covers the 11th and 12th grades of high school. It provides students with a stimulating educational experience with an international focus, fostering understanding and appreciation of other cultures, languages, and perspectives through a rigorous, broad, and balanced curriculum framework. The program develops the skills and attitudes necessary for students to make meaningful contributions through their actions. This education is centered on contexts, ideas, and concepts that transcend disciplinary, cultural, national, and geographical boundaries.
The core components—Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)—enhance the educational experience and are at the heart of the Diploma, promoting the holistic development of students. Graduates become citizens who not only possess specialized knowledge but also understand and apply it in real-life contexts.
DP students graduate academically independent, with highly developed cognitive, research, writing, and communication skills. They exceed the critical thinking and research skills required for university preparation, have learned to view the world from multiple cultural perspectives, and gain proficiency in at least two additional languages, enabling them to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
Middle Years Programme
The PYP was designed as a coherent and comprehensive curriculum framework for students aged 11 to 16. It presents an academic challenge while fostering the development of social, self-management, research, communication, and critical thinking skills.
This framework emphasizes the development of skills and attitudes, conceptual understanding, and the acquisition of knowledge necessary to participate in an increasingly globalized society. Academic success is closely linked to personal, social, and emotional well-being. The PYP allows students to develop their abilities and face challenges both inside and outside the classroom, promoting broader perspectives on complex issues and encouraging deeper levels of analysis and synthesis.
The curriculum framework offers a high degree of diversity, providing students with opportunities to develop their potential, explore their own learning preferences, take appropriate risks, and build a strong sense of personal identity and reflection. The program is designed to be inclusive, supporting the development of all students and fostering their growth as independent individuals who adopt a lifelong learning attitude. This stage culminates with the Personal Project, an individual and creative challenge that demonstrates the skills acquired and consolidates learning throughout the program.

Primary Years Programme
The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) is designed for children aged 3 to 12, beginning in preschool and concluding in 6th grade. Its main characteristic is inquiry-based learning through a conceptual and transdisciplinary framework, grounded in the skills of the IB approaches to learning and delivered through authentic and dynamic educational experiences. This approach fosters students’ agency both cognitively and metacognitively, helping them think critically and creatively.
By integrating skills, the attributes of the IB Learner Profile, and knowledge from six disciplinary areas, PYP students become self-regulated learners and agents of their own learning. They develop the ability to set learning goals, ask open-ended questions, generate motivation and perseverance, reflect on achievements, self-assess their learning, conduct research, communicate effectively, collaborate, and manage themselves efficiently within local, national, and global contexts.
In the final year of the PYP, students participate in the Exhibition, the culminating experience of the programme. This formal inquiry project allows them to demonstrate their understanding of the essential elements of their learning journey from early childhood through primary school.
Development of critical, creative, and reflective thinking skills.
Designed to meet the educational needs of students between 11 and 16 years of age. At Greenville International School, it will be offered from 7th to 10th grade.
We prepare students to be active, caring, lifelong learners who demonstrate respect for themselves and others, and who are capable of engaging with the world around them. The program focuses on the student’s holistic development.
We have been a member of the IB World Schools community since May 2016, and as such, we adhere to the principles outlined in the International Baccalaureate Organization’s mission statement.
The teachers at Greenville International School’s International Baccalaureate programs are committed to fostering the acquisition and application of specialized knowledge, as well as the academic skills students need for their future. They continually encourage and motivate students to internalize values and act constructively, participating and contributing positively and compassionately within society.
We are currently authorized to offer the Diploma Programme (DP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the Primary Years Programme (PYP).
