As part of its international standard educational services, GREENVILLE has been administering the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) test, created by NWEA, since the 2016–2017 school year.

The Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) is an international educational services organization based in Portland, Oregon, USA, with more than 7,800 partner schools in the United States, educational agencies, and international schools. It assesses students from kindergarten through 12th grade with tests that accurately measure students’ academic progress and learning needs.

In Mexico, only around 60 schools use this objective and timely knowledge assessment tool, with Greenville International School being the only one in the region.

The MAP test is administered in English and on a computer. It is conducted in three periods throughout the school year: a diagnostic test in the fall (September), an intermediate test in winter (February), and a final test in spring (May). MAP Growth evaluates reading, language usage, mathematics, and science for students from 4th to 12th grade. For students from Kindergarten to 3rd grade, only reading and mathematics are assessed.

The test scores are based on the RIT (Rasch Unit) scale, which is a fixed-interval scale with the same meaning for all students, regardless of grade or age. Scores obtained over time can be compared to determine how much a student has academically progressed, similar to measuring height.

MAP reports indicate each student’s results, the national average, and the international average, by grade and subject. One of the benefits of the MAP test is that teachers receive immediate information on what students know and what they are ready to learn, allowing them to personalize instruction according to each student’s level.
