INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE PROGRAM

Greenville International School offers its students as part of our multilingual and multicultural educational model, an environment of high academic expectations, providing support and constant individual monitoring in all areas of their cognitive, social and physical development.  The training objectives are framed in the INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE® (IB) continuum which prepares students for university life through a high-quality educational experience.  The curriculum has plans and programs with broad and balanced content that allows students to obtain an international mentality based on the holistic principle of education. 

The pedagogical program of IB seeks to have students acquire not only a good understanding of specialized knowledge, but also academic, personal and social skills that help them identify their interests and talents, thus providing them with the opportunity to develop with excellence in their higher education.  GREENVILLE puts special emphasis on having their students achieve professionally their vocation and gaining the values and principles necessary for a full, productive and satisfying life.

DP CURRICULUM MODEL

The IB Diploma Program (DP) is for young people between the ages of 16 and 19, and covers the 2nd and 3rd year of secondary school. Provides students with a challenging educational experience with an international focus that fosters an understanding and appreciation of other cultures, languages, and points of view, through the study of a rigorous, comprehensive, and balanced curricular framework, developing skills and attitudes to contribute through of his behavior. Such education focuses on contexts, ideas, and concepts that transcend disciplinary, cultural, national, and geographic boundaries.

The core components of Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Monograph and Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) broaden the educational experience and are located at the center of the Diploma, promoting the integral formation of students. Citizens who, in addition to having specialized knowledge, reduce and apply it in real life contexts.

Graduates are academically independent, with highly developed cognitive, research, writing, and communication skills. They exceed critical thinking standards and research skills required for college preparation, have learned to see the world from different cultural perspectives, and have learned two more languages, allowing them to communicate with people from other backgrounds.

PAI CURRICULUM MODEL

The PAI was conceived as a coherent and complete curricular framework aimed at students between 11 and 16 years of age, which poses an academic challenge and contributes to the development of social, self-management, research, communication and critical thinking skills.

Within this framework, emphasis is placed on the development of skills and attitudes, the understanding of concepts and the acquisition of the necessary knowledge to participate in an increasingly globalized society. School success is closely related to personal, social and emotional well-being; The MYP allows them to develop their capacities and face challenges inside and outside the classroom in today’s world, giving rise to broader perspectives on complex issues and fostering deeper levels of analysis and synthesis.

The curricular framework contains a wide degree of diversity, offering students the opportunity to develop their potential, explore their own learning preferences, take appropriate risks, and develop and reflect on a strong sense of personal identity. The program is designed to be inclusive; The PAI facilitates the development of all students, fostering their development as independent individuals who adopt a lifelong learning attitude, culminating in this stage with the presentation of a Personal Project as an individual and creative challenge which makes evident the development of the skills acquired, as well as the consolidation of learning during the program.

PEP CURRICULUM MODEL

The IB Primary Years Program (PYP) is aimed at children from 3 to 12 years of age, it is taught from preschool and ends in 6th grade. Its main characteristic is inquiry through a conceptual and transdisciplinary framework, based on the skills of integrated learning approaches in authentic and dynamic educational experiences, which favor students’ agency in a cognitive and metacognitive way, helping them to think independently. critical and creative

By combining skills, IB Community Profile attributes and knowledge from the six subject areas, PYP students become self-regulated learners, agents of their own learning, able to know how to set learning objectives, ask questions open, generate motivation and perseverance, reflect on their achievements, self-assess their learning, research, communicate, socialize and manage themselves effectively from local, national to global contexts.

In the final year of the PYP, students participate in the Expo, the culminating experience of the program, a formal project of inquiry where they demonstrate an understanding of the essential elements of their formation over the years from early childhood to their school primary.

It is designed to meet the educational needs of students between 11 and 16 years of age.  At Greenville International School this program will be taught from the first year of Middle School 7 th to 10 th grades.

Authorized School

We prepare students to be active, caring and to adopt a learning attitude throughout their life, to show respect for themselves as well as others, and to have the ability to participate in the world around them.  It focuses on the integral development of the child. 

WE ARE AN IB SCHOOL

We have been a member of the IB World Schools since May 2016 and as such we adhere to the abovementioned declaration of principles of the International Baccalaureate Organization. 

Greenville´s International Baccalaureate teaching staff is focused on the acquisition and the application of specialized knowledge, as well as the management of academic skills necessary for their student’s future.  Through the constant invitation and motivation of their students to internalize values and act constructively, our teaching staff are participating and positively contributing in solidarity in society.

We are currently accredited to offer the DIPLOMA PROGRAMME (DP), the MIDDLE YEARS PROGRAMME (MYP) and the PRIMARY YEARS PROGRAMME (PYP).
